Prof David Haslam is a GP with a special interest in obesity and cardiometabolic disease, Physician in Obesity Medicine at the Centre for Obesity Research at Luton & Dunstable Hospital, and Chair of the National Obesity Forum (NOF) in the UK. He is Visiting Professor, Robert Gordon University Aberdeen, and Visiting Professor Chester University

David took charge of formulating the guidelines for adult obesity management in primary care and produced the first Primary Care guidelines for management of childhood obesity with the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health. He is a Board Member of ESCO (Experts in Severe and Complex Obesity), and a member of the Counterweight Board.

David has articles widely published in journals and papers and speaks internationally on obesity and related diseases. His books include 'The Obesity Epidemic and its Management’ with Terry Maguire, and ‘Fat, Gluttony and Sloth, Obesity in Art, Literature and Medicine’ a cultural history of obesity, published in 2009.
